Coming off a second-place finish at the X-Games in Austin, Texas, Nelson Piquet Jr. and the SH Racing team were ready to get back to business in Washington, DC this past weekend.
As a sponsor of SH Racing Rallycross’ debut season in the 2014 Red Bull Global Rallycross, Haus Personal Vaporizers (owned by Mistic) was proud to watch as Piquet Jr. reached the podium for the second race in a row.
The Red Bull Global Rallycross’ stop in the capital is the first motorsports event to take place in the city in over a decade. Setting up shop outside RFK Stadium, home to the D.C. United Major League Soccer team, the racing teams were ready to get down to business over the weekend.
Sporting a new yellow Ford Fiesta ST livery touting WIX’s recent sponsorship of the team, the WIX/Haus/NO-Xplode machine was in top-notch shape.
As he took home the top spot in both of his heat races and set the top speed for Saturday, it like it would be Piquet Jr.’s weekend.
The final came down to the Brazilian-born driver battling Ford teammate Patrik Sandell for the top spot on the podium. Giving room to Sandell to race as cleanly as possible, Piquet Jr. could not get the pass for the win.
The team now has a 4th, a 3rd, and two 2nd-place finishes this year, putting them only one point behind Scott Speed in the championship standings.
In the next event on the Red Bull Global Rallycross schedule, Piquet Jr. will take on the Big Apple in the Volkswagen Rallycross NY by invading the parking lot of Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island, New York. The event takes place on July 20th, 2014 with LIVE coverage beginning on NBC at 2PM Eastern Standard Time.
